Tyler Psychological Services will conduct an insurance benefit check once the Release to Bill Insurance form is signed by the client. The purpose of benefit check is to determine if there is a deductible, copay, or out of pocket limit (see definitions below) associated with the insurance plan. We make every attempt to provide a good faith estimate for our clients though we strongly suggest that clients independently learn about their insurance coverage.

Out of Network Billing

For all other insurances, Tyler Psychological Services is happy to provide the client a Superbill, which is a statement of payments made directly to the practice for services rendered. This bill can then be independently submitted to the client’s insurance company to be applied towards Out of Network benefits. We do not bill these insurance companies directly or request single case agreements.

Definitions

Deductible: The amount of money a client pays out of pocket before the insurance company begins to pay for covered services. For instance, if the client has a $500 deductible, the client will pay this amount before insurance begins to cover services.

Copay/Coinsurance: After the deductible is met, this is either a flat rate (copay) or percentage (coinsurance) of the covered services that is owed by the client per session. For example, insurance might cover 80% of the covered service, which means the client would be responsible for the remaining 20% after each visit.

Out of Pocket Limit: This is the total amount a client will have to pay out of pocket between their deductible and copays. Once a client reaches their Out of Pocket limit, the insurance company will pay for the covered services 100%.

Private Pay and Good Faith Estimate

Beginning on January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to all current clients who are uninsured or private pay. A GFE means that the cost of services is discussed and then documented for each client. The purpose of this estimate is to ensure that there are no surprises with regard to the cost of treatment. Tyler Psychological Services will provide every uninsured or private pay client a GFE in writing prior to the start of treatment.

Clients can learn more about GFEs here: http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Sliding Scale

Tyler Psychological Services has two, 40-minute sliding scale spots available. Requests for a sliding scale must be made during the initial phone consultation. These requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and discussed during your first appointment. A written Good Faith Estimate will be provided to you after the first session.

Forms of Payment

Tyler Psychological Services accepts all major credit cards once the Credit Card Authorization form is signed. Additionally, HSA and FSA cards and checks are also accepted. Cash is no longer accepted as a form of payment at the practice.

Cancellation Fee

The cost of the session will be billed in full if there is a late cancellation, which is defined as a cancellation within the 24-hour period prior to the appointment time. For therapy to be effective, consistent participation is necessary. Please discuss with your provider any barriers that exist to regular attendance at your therapy session.
